Just Thinking

I was just thinking today about life; the good times and the bad. I know of a situation where something has happened to a young couple that is not great, but it is far from the end of the world. They are both in tears and just don't know if they can handle this event.

I also know of a gentlemen who was recently diagnosed with cancer. What was his response? "I win either way. If I die, I go to live with Jesus. If I don't, I get to stay here and have more time with my family."

Wow. What a statement. Sure, the older gentlemen has more life experience than the young couple. He has lived a long, full life. He lost his wife when she was only in her mid-fifties. All his siblings have died. He knows about heartache.

But the thing is, his faith is what makes him strong. These kids don't have that foundation. They don't know what the future holds, and they don't know who holds the future. I don't know what the future holds either, but I DO know who holds the future.

And that, my friends, is what makes us or breaks us. Our faith. Not age, life experience, intelligence, etc. Our faith in our Creator. Period.

Turn Your Home Into a Warm and Inviting Retreat With Candles

The best way that I know of to turn your home into a warm and inviting retreat is by lighting candles. I live in a small apartment, but I light about six scented candles around my home each evening. They deliver a nice fragrance and create a warm atmosphere.

There is nothing else that can create the same ambiance as far as I am concerned. When I visit someone’s home and see glowing candles placed around the rooms, it puts me at ease and makes me feel welcome and comfortable.

When I visit a home and notice that there are none to be found, I get a sense of coldness. Even the most beautifully decorated home is missing something without candles. They are a very important part of a home’s décor.

If you are not a bona-fide candle lover like me, try them anyway. I think that you will see what a big difference the glowing flames make in your home. The flames flicker and emit a soft glow that provides a sense of coziness.

Finding Your Joy In Network Marketing

Finding your joy in network marketing is no different than finding it in life. It is something that you decide to have; not something that you attain. We tend to think that certain things must fall into place before we can be happy. If those things never happen, will we never be happy?

We won’t ever find happiness if we believe that we must attain something in order to achieve it. For example, we may feel as if we need to be wealthy, or find success in business ventures, or find ways to become more attractive.

There is nothing wrong with trying to gain wealth or other achievements, but we should find joy in life even without those things. We have to decide to be happy NOW, not after something significant happens.

Are You Cut Out To Work From Home?

Do you ever wonder whether you are cut out to work from home? I ask this question because not everyone is. Some people need the camaraderie that co-workers provide. They need to socialize on a regular basis and do not enjoy being alone.

This is a question that you must ask yourself before you consider working from home. You will be making a big mistake if you give up the corporate world without first realizing that you may miss the daily human contact.

For some reason, this is something that many people fail to consider before making the switch to working from home. They may take many other things into consideration, such as the luxury of being their own boss, no morning commute, not having to ask for vacation time, etc.

Of course, you can still communicate with the outside world through email and the telephone. You can even take a break and go shopping in order to be with other people. The fact is though, that a normal office provides a lot of socialization that you will never get elsewhere.

Top 3 Reasons To Choose A Network Marketing Company

I believe you should look for three things when choosing a network marketing company. When all three of these are present, you should feel good about your decision. The first thing is a good management team. These people should have good reputations in the industry and should demonstrate the highest integrity.

The second thing to look for is a good sponsor. It is a good idea to visit with another potential sponsor if the first person you talk to doesn’t possess the qualities you are looking for. In my case, my sponsor and I build our businesses in a very similar manner.

She is always available when I have questions, and she always goes above and beyond the call of duty when I need her. She sends her downline her personal schedule when she will be out of town so that we know when she will be out of touch. Even then, she makes fairly regular contact with a computer so that she is not unavailable for long periods of time.

The third thing is a good product. You do not want to be selling and promoting something that is not up to your standards. You want to be part of a company who offers great products and customer service. You should place an order for the product before you join so that you can test it for yourself.

Do Your Friends Really Want To Be Dragged To An Opportunity Meeting?

I don’t know about you, but I would rather stick a hot poker in my eye than attend an opportunity meeting. I have a friend who is involved in network marketing, as I am, but her company hosts these meetings quite frequently at a hotel meeting room in town.

I have politely turned down her invitations in the past, so she finally stopped inviting me to go. Whew! What a relief. She is very enthusiastic about her nutrition company, and that is great, but give me a break! I am not interested.

I hope she eventually reaches the conclusion that this is no way to build a business. Nobody that I know wants to spend their time at these meetings. What about you? Are you trying to build a business this way? How successful have you been? If your business is flourishing as a result of these meetings, I would bet that you are a rarity.

Most people are really busy these days. They have better things to do than listen to some company guru tout the benefits of joining their business. These guys fly in from all over hoping to persuade people to sign up. Even if they are successful in their attempt, most of these new team members don’t last very long.

Let Network Marketing Save You From Your JOB

Have you ever wondered whether network marketing can save you from your job? You know, having to ask for vacation time, sick leave, etc.? Don’t you find it strange that as an adult you are still required to ask permission for these things?

I truly hope that someday I can escape from the employee rat-race and become my own boss. It would be so nice to take a day off whenever I please, and not be required to call the boss whenever I am so sick I can barely dial the phone.

This certainly won’t happen any time soon because I have only been in this business for about nine months, but I hope to eventually work from home exclusively. I will get up each morning when I am good and ready and make the five-second commute to my home office.

I will work as many hours as I see fit and take as many breaks during the day as I want. I will stop working and go for a walk if the notion strikes me. I will take the entire day off if I want. What a great life that would be. I will not stop working my business until I have reached the goal of working from home.

What about you? Do you dream of working from home, too? As I see it, the only way to accomplish this is to either win the lottery or put our noses to the grindstone in our home businesses. They say the only way to fail in this business is to give up, and I have no intentions of doing that.

I hope you won’t give up, either. Your reasons for wanting to work from home may be different from mine, but that is not the point. The point is that we must keep our goal in mind at all times in order to reach it. We must wake up each day with that goal in mind and strive to reach it.

Truth In Network Marketing

If there were more truth in network marketing, I believe there would be less people who become frustrated and quit. It prospects were told in the beginning that this business takes time and a lot of hard work, they would probably not join in the first place. Or they would realize what it does take and would do everything necessary to hang in there until they reach their goals.

The sad fact is, though, that there is simply not much truth being told. Some network marketers are so desperate to build a downline that they tell people they can become rich overnight. They may even tell them that they won’t have to do a thing. Some even go so far as to tell their prospects that they will do all the work for them.

This is ridiculous, of course, but some people actually fall for it. They join a company in the hopes that all they have to do is sign up and become rich. Truly intelligent people should know better, but some of us want to believe it really is that easy. We want to believe it so badly that we shell out our hard-earned money to join these biz ops.

We soon find ourselves quitting and feeling a sense of shame for falling for such a scam. I know this first-hand, because I have been there. I finally came to my senses and realized that if something appears too good to be true, it probably is. There are no free rides in life.

There are good companies out there looking for distributors, but you have to work hard to succeed. You have to give your business time to grow. You have to know that putting forth a good effort for just a few months is not adequate. It takes at least a couple of years to get any business off the ground.

Your Warm Market and Network Marketing

If you use the “warm market strategy” in an attempt to build your network marketing business, you are doomed to fail. How many of your friends and family members have expressed a desire to do network marketing? I know in my case, I have only a couple of friends who do what I do. However, they are in different companies, and they build mostly offline. My interest is only in building online.

What I am getting at here is that your warm market is not interested in doing what you do. That is true in most cases, anyway. You may have a friend or relative who shows an interest once they see how well you are doing, but in that case, let them come to you. You will know that they are good prospects because they have come to you expressing an interest.

Your best prospects will come to you; not the other way around. If you approach people trying to sell them on your business concept or your products, you will experience a lot of rejection. Most people don’t have the desire to become involved in network marketing because they just don’t “get it”.

The Power of Time

The power of time should not be under-estimated. This is especially true in internet marketing. Building an online presence takes determination, hard work, and time. The truth of the matter is, it does not matter what type of business you want to build. You must give it time to work.

It is both your friend and your enemy at the same time. What I mean by that is we all have the same twenty-four hours in a day. Those hours can be very productive or we can waste them; it is our choice.

Many people in internet marketing become so frustrated by the length of time it takes to build a business that they end up quitting. Their income after six months is so insignificant that they believe they are spinning their wheels. If they had just given it a couple more years, they may have seen a very significant income increase.

That is why time is so important. The more that you put into your business, the more successful you will be. The more time you give your business to grow, the more your online presence will build. More people will find you who are looking to work from home.

You also learn a lot about building a business over time. If you read and study, you eventually become very adept and are able to teach others what you know. The more you know and the more you are able to pass on to others, the more your business grows.

The Law of Cause and Effect Alive and Well in Network Marketing

The law of cause and effect works in every area of our lives, including our network marketing businesses. A good example is a person with poor spending habits. This usually leads to a life of want and lack because they spend money so frivolously.

Conversely, a person who uses a sound investment strategy may build a great deal of wealth over time. Building wealth does not “just happen”. It takes planning, commitment, and will-power.

The same principal holds true in network marketing. If you plan, commit, and have the will-power to see it through, you can reach your goals. You cannot just sit idly by and hope that your business and income will grow. You must make a plan of action and work it diligently every day.

Everything that happens in life has a cause. If we do not take care of our bodies, we will suffer from some type of illness. If we don’t take care of our teeth, they will rot and fall out. If we eat too much, we will carry too much weight and suffer the consequences.

On the other hand, if we eat right, exercise, brush and floss daily, we should get good results from our efforts. There is a saying that goes, “We do not plan to fail; we fail to plan.” Planning is the best way to ensure the best results in any endeavor.

Love Your Network Marketing Company

You should love your network marketing company and promote it as a leader in the industry. You should make others aware of its integrity and passion for its distributors. If you hold the management in high esteem, others will do the same.

However, you cannot pretend here. You must really hold these beliefs. If you are not sincere, others will see it. Be sure that you are involved with a company that you truly hold in high regard. That is the only way to honestly proclaim how great your company is.

This is especially important in the recruiting process. No one wants to join a company when the distributors are only mildly enthusiastic about it. For instance, if you mention that there are a few problems, but no company is perfect, prospects may hesitate to join you.

It IS true that no company is perfect, but I have found one that is darn close, and so have many of you. Be sure to state that company management is quick to respond to any problems and gets them resolved as soon as possible.

Even though there is no perfect company or product, there are many that come about as close as you can get. No one can really ask for more than that. A company that cares about its customers and distributors will still be standing when the others collapse.

Which Network Marketing Business Is For You?

The first step in selecting a network marketing business is deciding which one is for you. What is it that interests you the most? Taking nutritional supplements for better health? What about traveling? Or, maybe health plans for the uninsured or under-insured?

Maybe for some it is finding the perfect scented candle; one which produces little or no soot. For others, it may be selecting the perfect home décor or kitchen gadget. You are sure to find the product that fits your niche.

Once you decide which product or service you want to market, then you compare the different companies in that field. Which management team seems to have the most integrity? Which one tells it like it is without filling you full of hype and false promises?

What compensation plan makes the most sense to you? Does the company offer free training to its new distributors? There is so much to consider. Choose carefully, because this is your new venture, and possibly your new career.

If you make the right choice in the beginning, you will save yourself a lot of time and money. Join the best company for you, and jump in with both feet. Hold nothing back. Give it all you’ve got, and then some.

Are You A Company Jumper?

If you find that you are a company jumper, my advice to you is to put a halt to it right away. You will get nowhere fast. The mere fact that it takes time to build a business is a good enough reason. If you spend a little time on this business, then leave it and jump into another, you are just wasting your time (and money).

Determine from the very beginning that you will do your research of all the companies out there. Select the one that really intrigues you and that you will be proud to represent. Check out the management team, compensation plan, etc. Make sure that it is a reputable company with integrity.

The exception here is if you find yourself in a business that you just don’t like, or you find that the company is corrupt in some way. By all means, get out fast and be more selective the next time. The key to becoming profitable in network marketing is to STOP surfing. Refuse to join the “next big thing”. Don’t even consider joining another company.

Make up your mind that you will be loyal to your chosen company and will promote it enthusiastically. Use the system already in place and work, work, work until you see results.

There are some great companies out there. You have a lot of choices. Do you get excited about nutritional products, home décor, candles, travel, legal or medical plans? Find the product that excites you the most and that you can be passionate about.

Your Law of Averages and Time

Time has a way of improving your law of averages in your network marketing business. As you continue to learn the business, your learning curve will improve, and along with it, your law of averages will also improve. More and more people, over time, will join you.

More people will become aware of your business and products, and hopefully, your sales will eventually pick up. In the beginning, nobody knows about you and your new business. You spread the word, either by talking to friends and family, placing ads, writing articles, participating in forums, placing a web decal on your vehicle, setting up a booth at a flea market or craft fair, hosting home parties, etc.

Each and every day, as you work to build your business, the law of averages is working for you. You will not be able to see the changes right away, but over time, you will realize that all the steps you took worked together to build your business.

The hard part is getting past those early stages. It may seem as if nothing is working, or you may think that you are doing something wrong. If you follow the advice of seasoned networkers, do what they do, and keep plugging along, you will eventually become successful in network marketing.

Be At Peace With Your Current Circumstances

In order to be at peace with your current circumstances, you must be grateful for what you have while you strive for more. Being at peace does not mean that you just accept things as they are. It means that you have an attitude-of-gratitude even though you have not accomplished everything you hope to.

In my network marketing business it is easy to become frustrated. This business takes a lot of hard work and patience. There have been times when I just wanted to forget it and do something else. I certainly have not always been grateful for my circumstances.

That can be hard to do when others around you are seeing great success. I truly am happy for others in my company who are doing well and making a lot of money, but envy sometimes comes creeping in, too. It is normal for us to question ourselves and wonder why this is working so well for others.

Sometimes it is because of dumb luck, or maybe the methods they are using just work better. There is so much trial and error involved. I finally learned to use only the methods that I truly enjoy. That made a difference in how I looked at this endeavor. It suddenly became fun.

I finally realized that even though I am not yet successful in this business, I can still be at peace and enjoy life. I will continue to take action every day in an effort to build my network marketing business, but I will also be grateful for my life as it is now.

Be True To Yourself

You should be true to yourself in network marketing. It is a mistake to try to be somebody you’re not. I know this first-hand, because I made this mistake early on. I took all the recommendations of my company and tried to implement each and every method they taught.

I considered doing fundraisers, setting up a booth at a craft fair, placing door hangers on my neighbors’ homes, and home parties. I used to cringe at the very thought of each and every one of these business ideas, but I thought that I must try them anyway.

Boy, was I wrong. If I had followed through with these things, I would have quit early on. I would have been so miserable that it just would not have been worth it. I would have thrown in the towel and decided that this candle business I was so excited about was just not for me after all.

Thank goodness I began to read articles from some of the seasoned networkers who suggested that I do things MY way. These articles showed me that I can keep my own personality, continue to be who I am with all my likes and dislikes, and still succeed in this business.

Remember to be true to yourself, do things your way, and let others do the same. Never try to convince your team partners that they are missing the boat if they do not try the methods that you use. Let them be true to themselves, too.

Are You Trying To Reinvent The Wheel?

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel in your network marketing business. Try not to be a stubborn pupil who insists on learning things the hard way. One of the keys to your success in this business is duplication.

The seasoned network marketers in your company and others who joined before you walked the road ahead of you. They have imprinted their footsteps along the way. Follow their lead, take their advice, and do what they have done.

You may not want to try EVERY method they recommend, but you should try several of them. Do what the successful people do in order to become successful yourself. They have left you a roadmap. You do not have to come up with all kinds of new ideas in order to build your business.

Take a cue from the leaders in your company and do things their way. They have paved the way; take advantage of it. There are certain marketing methods that others in my company use, including my sponsor, that I just don’t care for. So, I have chosen other methods they use that fit my personal style.

Network Marketing YOUR Way

Network marketing your way is the only way to go. Just like the Burger King mantra, “Have it your way”. If this is not the case, then you will not succeed. Even though this is a business of duplication, and you take cues from your sponsor and others in your upline, you must still do things your way.

Imagine trying to build a business, but you despise everything you are expected to do to be successful. Back in the old days of network marketing, we were told to drag family and friends to meetings, talk to everybody we came in contact with about our business, and pick up the phone and make cold calls.

Many people still use these old methods, but I would absolutely not be in this business if those things were necessary to build my business. I am fine with following guidelines and using training provided by my company, as long as it is in line with my ideas and my personality.

Don’t you feel the same way? Don’t you decide which of the marketing methods suit your style and use those instead of the methods that you find annoying? Nobody wants to build a business with a sense of dread. We want to enjoy this journey and have fun along the way!

Network Marketers Need Mentors

Network marketers need mentors, and the value of a good one is priceless. These people should be trusted friends and advisors who know the ropes. There are so many people in my company who I trust completely. I would probably jump off a cliff if they told me to!

Okay, I am exaggerating here, but you know what I mean. There are just some people who are not only successful marketers, but they are also brimming with honesty and integrity.

I have found that the best and most successful people in this business truly care about helping other people succeed. They are not just in this for themselves.

Avoid These Internet Marketing Pitfalls

If you want to be successful in internet marketing, you should learn to avoid a few pitfalls. This advice is meant to prevent you from following in the footsteps of those who made these mistakes. I hope that you will especially take heed to the first pitfall. It can put you in financial jeopardy in a hurry.

Don’t quit your day job too soon. Many people jump on the home business bandwagon and believe that they will soon be swimming in the sea of wealth. Believe me, this is usually not the case. It will take a lot of hard work and maybe even a couple of years before you will see a big jump in income.

Don’t jump from one company to another. There are exceptions to this one. There are times when leaving one company for another is the best thing to do, but you should not make a habit of it.

A distributor with my company recently left after four years, and she joined another. Some of those in her downline followed her, so of course a few feathers were ruffled. Even though this may have been the right decision for her, she may be known as disloyal and fickle.

Don’t become too skeptical. We have all heard the hype and been sold a bunch of lies in the past in this industry. That will probably never change. However, try not to become too jaded as a result. Sure, the scammers are out there, but so are the good guys.

Some people actually believe that every MLM is a pyramid or a scam, but we know better. We know that it is a wonderful opportunity to work from home and create better lives for ourselves.

Choose the MLM Business That Fits Your Personality

If you do not choose the MLM business that fits your personality, you will not last long in the business. If you are forced to do things that you detest in order to build your business, you will never be successful.

Here is a perfect example. I do not like home parties. I don’t like jewelry parties, home décor parties, makeup parties, candle parties, or kitchen gadget parties. I would rather have a root canal than attend one of these functions.

Therefore, joining an MLM company that is based on home parties would be a foolish thing for me to do. Home parties are an option in my company, but they are not mandatory. Other distributors say that we should all participate in at least a few of these in order to be able to train new distributors.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Our company provides detailed training in home parties just as it does with other areas of our business. Why should I feel obligated to try each and every method that my company recommends? The answer is simple: I don’t.

Most people will simply not join a business opportunity that mandates how they should run their business. I would never join a home party business when my only interest is in building online.

On the other hand, for those of you who love home parties, then that type of business is perfect for you. You will do well because you will enjoy what you do. Those who attend your parties will see your excitement and it will be contagious.

There are companies who teach their distributors to approach their friends and family, or their warm market. My company recommends it, but I don’t spend much time on it. I have set up an email signature with a little blurb about my business. I also have a web decal on the back window of my car with my website address.

As a result of these two things, my friends and family know about my business. I never had to approach them and make them uncomfortable because I told them about my new candle business. Even if you don’t ask for a sale when mentioning your new home business, it is inferred in your message.

If my warm market is interested, they contact me and ask me questions about my products or my business. It is true both with your warm and cold market; prospects that come to you are better prospects.

Is Your Glass Half-Empty Or Half-Full?

Do you see your glass as half-empty or half-full? What about your network marketing business? When you are struggling to succeed, it is easy to see want and lack instead of bounty. After all, you haven’t made any money yet.

The whole point is to make money and find financial freedom. Helping others to do the same is an added bonus. However, in the beginning, it is possible that nothing is happening. You may be wondering if it is a total waste of your time.

The important thing is to see the glass as half-full, even in the beginning. Otherwise, if you adopt the half-empty mindset, you may feel a sense of defeat before you even get started. We all have to start from scratch. There are no short-cuts.

Motivation Is The Key Factor In Network Marketing Success

How strong is your motivation in your network marketing business? The answer to that question may determine how successful you become. If you are highly motivated, you will put forth more time and energy and you will be less likely to quit out of frustration.

If you are truly unhappy with your current circumstances, you will probably do whatever it takes to become successful in this business so that you can change your situation. On the other hand, if you are only mildly annoyed by the way things are now, you will probably not be so determined to find success elsewhere.

Motivation is a powerful thing. It drives us to do what is hard and sometimes uncomfortable in order to reach the end result. It keeps us moving forward even on those days that we don’t really feel like it.

Knowing what we are working to achieve keeps us going. Success in this business can provide all kinds of freedom; financial freedom, time freedom, and freedom from a job. Never lose your motivation and you will find success.

Striving for more simply means that you want to improve your life. Staying highly motivated will help you reach your goals. Good luck in all that you do.

Comparing Ourselves To Others In Network Marketing Is A Useless Activity

Try not to compare yourself to others in network marketing. You will not be comparing apples to apples. Each and every one of us brings something different to the table, so comparisons are worthless.

If you are like me, you wonder what others have that you don’t. How in the world did that new team member recruit five people on their very first day? How did she sell so much product her very first week?

Well, a lot goes on behind the scenes that we may never know about. Those five new recruits may have followed her from her last business, and those sales may have been to family members to whom she promised favors.

Now, that is not always the case of course, but many times there is a very good reason why a new person seems to just take off. For those of you who are new to this business, you just don’t have the advantages that seasoned marketers do.

You don’t have the established downline, the network marketing education, or the mentor. You may not have the large advertising budget that someone else has. You are starting from scratch, and that is hard.

Comparing ourselves to others is a very discouraging activity. There will always be those who shoot to the top faster. Sometimes it is nothing more than dumb luck, but it is usually because they have an ace up their sleeve.

There will always be those who are better communicators, leaders, marketers, etc., but we can continually improve our skills, too. We can read and study network marketing. We can learn the business from the masters because this information is readily available.

Can You Go Just One More Mile In Network Marketing?

Do you ever wonder if you can even go just one more mile in your network marketing career? I know I do. We all know that we must put in some time each day working our business, but sometimes it is just so hard to do.

Usually, I really enjoy the time that I spend working, but sometimes I think that I just cannot take it another day. I begin to wonder if it is really worth the effort. I also sometimes doubt that I will ever become successful anyway. Sound familiar?

Occasionally, I find myself in this dark hole of disillusionment. The whole thing just seems pointless. I spend countless hours writing articles, contacting leads, posting on the forums, etc. Where has it gotten me?

Can you relate? Do you sometimes have these feelings, too? If so, then I feel better knowing that I am not alone. I wish that you and I knew each other so that we could wallow in our self-pity together.

Why does this take so long? Are my efforts just wasted? I know that when we write articles, we are supposed to be trying to help others with our expertise. However, I don’t feel like doing that today. I feel like venting.

You know what? That is my right; and yours. I really am not an expert in anything, anyway. I never pretended to be. I just write articles expressing how I feel and what I have learned on this long, hard path. Sharing our experiences with each other is a great learning tool.

Becoming a network marketer is one of the hardest things I have ever done. It has tested my patience in more ways than almost anything else I can think of. It has made me want to run screaming down the street in frustration.

If you are experiencing some of the same things, just know that you are not alone. I don’t know how many others are in our shoes, but I would certainly think that there are many. All those self-assured, successful marketers out there surely went through it.

Hopefully, once my marketing efforts begin to pay off in a big way, I will be able to look back and laugh. Maybe I will regain my sanity and see how all the blocks were somehow neatly stacked into place.

How To Become A Pied Piper In Network Marketing

The only way I know of to become a pied piper in network marketing is to market yourself online. If you establish yourself as an authority on a subject, people will follow you and be interested in what you have to say.

The best ways to do this are to write articles and submit them to article directories; participate in online forums; send traffic to your personal, informative website; become involved in social networking; write an informative blog and keep it updated; and publish a newsletter.

These may seem like simple things, but people who are new to MLM need this information. They need to be taught exactly what to do from the ground up. Any information that you can give them will be helpful because you have “been there, done that.”

Become a pied piper in network marketing by sharing what you know. It will be appreciated, and you will be branding yourself online in the process. You will eventually gain credibility and your name will begin to be recognized. It is a great way to build your business because people will come to you seeking what you have to offer.

Offline Marketing and Online Marketing - Which One Produces The Best Results?

If you are wondering whether to go with offline marketing or online marketing, the answer is up to you. I would venture to say that many network marketers use a little of each. Both methods can bring promising prospects your way.

Let’s take a look at some of the offline methods first. Leaving business cards, catalogs and brochures at places you frequent; placing a web decal or magnetic sign on your vehicle; newspaper ads; flyers; business stationary; free product samples; wearing apparel that features your company logo; home parties; craft fairs; flea markets; door hangers; postcards.

Online methods can include article marketing; forum participation; online ads; social networking; pay-per-clicks; Google adwords; blogs; purchasing leads; etc.

Each and every method is not listed here, but you get the idea. I believe that every method which gets your business website out there is beneficial. Network marketers will favor some methods over others, but it essentially comes down to you.

MLM Is Not A Race

MLM is not a race, or a contest. If you are thinking of quitting, DON”T DO IT! Remind yourself, over and over, that this TAKES TIME! So many people enter the world of network marketing full of hopes and dreams, and then they start to think that it just takes too long, or it is just too hard, or requires too much work.

Yes, it takes time, is not easy, and requires a lot of work. What doesn’t? Does anything in life really come easily? Not for me, it doesn’t. I suspect that is true for everyone. When you join an MLM company, you are essentially starting from scratch.

Sure, your upline can train you and give you the tools you need, but you have to start from the bottom. You probably have no customers and no viable prospects in the beginning, so you begin to build.

The best advice I can give you is to not try several marketing methods at once. Choose two or three, learn them well, and concentrate on just those methods. Make sure that your chosen strategies have worked well for successful people. Do not try to re-invent the wheel. I know that phrase may seem to be over-used in this industry, but it is true.

I don’t know that I have truly found my niche in marketing my business, but I do enjoy writing articles in an attempt to help others. I have learned so much in my MLM journey that I want to share what I have learned with others.

I hope to help at least one person jump the learning curve faster than I did by providing valuable information. I hope that you find your marketing niche, or that you find at least one method that you truly enjoy. The more you enjoy it, the more time and effort you will put into it.

Just remember that MLM is not a race. If things are not moving as quickly as you had hoped, don’t fret. Don’t feel like you are behind and will never catch up or get there. You will get there, eventually. Want to know the real key to success? Never give up. Never.

The Fallacy of the Hard Sell

Do you wonder about the hard sell tactics of network marketing? You really shouldn’t. They don’t work, and that is all you need to know. If you will steer clear of them, you and your business will be better off.

Rather than approaching people who will want to punch us for bothering them with what we have to offer, we should concentrate on those who are looking for it. Show those people the value in what your business offers and how it will benefit them. After all, it is about the prospect and those you can help; it should not be about you.

Once someone realizes that you are interested in helping them to create a better life, they will be open to what you have to say. They need to know that it is not just about the bottom line, but that you genuinely want to help others achieve what you have.

Once you have gained their confidence and they know you want to help them improve their situation, they will want to know all about your business. The hard sell just does not work. Build relationships first. Spend your time on those who want to know more.

What is MLM?

So just what is MLM, you ask? Those three letters stand for multi-level marketing. It is the process of getting paid for using products that you like and recommending them to others. Then, you find others who want to do the same.

It is a way of moving products and building a team under you who also uses and sells the products. Contrary to popular belief, MLM is not illegal and it is not a pyramid scheme. It is simply another way to move products other than through retail stores.

When you introduce this concept to others, you can eventually build a large team. Your team members follow suite, and a large income can result. In fact, many people make a handsome living from this business model. Six-figure incomes are fairly common.

The thing to remember is that this takes time. You should expect to exert a lot of effort for a couple of years before you see much of a profit. This business is no different than other businesses as far as taking time to build.

No one has a customer base overnight or recruits dozens of team members within a few days. The only exception is if the person was involved in multi-level marketing previously and brings their customer base and team members with them.

Can You Handle Rejection In MLM?

Do you know if you can handle rejection in MLM? If not, then you will not last very long in this business. Rejection is just part of it. Not necessarily PERSONAL rejection, but people saying no to your products or business opportunity.

Many who join this business take the no’s personally, become frustrated, and quit. It is very important that you learn to be thick-skinned, and not sensitive. If you are the sensitive type who gets your feelings hurt easily, you may want to consider another business.

Conversely, if you are able to shrug it off and realize that it probably has nothing to do with you, you will be fine. Not everybody wants a home business. Many are content just going to work every day and collecting their paycheck. That is okay. Spend your time on people who are interested in what you have to offer.

So, can you handle rejection in MLM? Of course you can, if you keep these things in mind:

Do not take rejection personally.

This business is not for everyone.

Move beyond your warm market.

Provide information. Do not try to convince.

Know that more people will reject what you are offering than will accept.

Are You Cut Out For MLM?

To determine whether you are cut out for MLM, here are a few tips:

Decide whether you want to be your own boss.

You need the ability to handle rejection. Not everyone will be interested in your products or business opportunity.

If you are not a patient person, you must develop the ability to wait. This business takes time.

Expect repetition. You must advertise, buy leads, or use other marketing methods over and over before you see results.

Are you able to afford ongoing expenses? You must take the monthly auto-shipment and advertising expenses into account.

So, are you cut out for MLM? Only you can answer that, but hopefully the tips mentioned above will assist you.

Patience is a Virtue in Network Marketing

Patience is not only a virtue in network marketing; it is a MUST. This business takes time, learning, effort, action steps, persistence, and many other things. Learning to be patient, however, is number one.

This is the key ingredient to success. You may go for many months without seeing any success at all. You may begin to think that this will never work and that it is all one big lie. Successful marketers may make it look easy, but trust me, it is not.

Treating patience as a virtue will take you a long way in life and in business. It is one of those personality traits that must be cultivated and nurtured. Not many of us are born with it. Never give up. Remember that you are just where you need to be in the growth process.

You Want to Try Article Marketing, But You Think You Can't Write?

You want to try article marketing, but you think you can’t write? Well, if you can speak, you can write. Just pretend that you are talking to someone, but put it down on paper. Better yet, type it into a Word document on your computer.

Article marketing is a great way to promote your business and your website. However, its main function is to promote you. If you write articles about subjects that you know well, and then submit them to the article directories, you may appear to be an expert.

If your grammar is not great, you will need to work on that.

A good way to start is to offer tips. For instance, you can list the top five ways to promote a website, or the top ten ways to advertise on a budget. People love tips; just make sure that they are useful. Don’t write just to be getting an article out there. Ensure that the information you are providing will be helpful to your readers.

The Business That Moves With You

I just read a post on a forum by a military wife who joined a network marketing company because she needs a home business that moves with her. Any of us could find ourselves in a situation which would require us to move to another city or state, or even out of the country!. Wouldn’t it be great to have no fear of loss of income due to our reliable and mobile home business?

That is definitely one of the pros of network marketing. You can work from practically anywhere in the world, move from one place to another, and your business will not skip a beat. How many businesses offer that kind of flexibility? Not many.

Candles and Soot

Nobody likes the idea of candles and soot. Even the biggest candle-lovers out there would prefer to burn candles that do not leave that black mess on the jar, their walls, and in their lungs.

I soon found that those made from alternative products; either soy, beeswax, vegetable products, and others, alleviated the black mess problem. It seems that paraffin is the culprit in this debacle.

I simply purchase my favorite brand of those that I tried, and I no longer have to worry about the health issues involved with black soot. In fact, I even joined the company and became an independent distributor of those products.

My company has over 100 scents to choose from, along with an array of other products. The gourmet bath bars come in six fragrances, and they smell wonderful.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the old soot-makers. There is a better candle out there. Simply go to http://www.glowingsoyscents.com/ to order my products from the comfort of your own home. I guarantee that you will breathe easier!

Residual Income or Status Quo?

The definition of residual income is “Income earned on an ongoing basis for effort done once in the past.” Sounds good, right? This method of earning money is completely different from what most of us know, which is linear. This is getting paid for the number of hours you work, or the amount of work that you produce.

Network marketing is a good way to earn residually. You can do this by bringing in customers who order your products regularly, or by team members who sell products and sign up new team members. Once you build a large team, you are basically set because you earn a percentage from their efforts.

This may sound simple, and in reality it is, but it takes time. Customers and team members do not just come out of the woodwork. It takes a lot of work and effort on your part to make this happen. If you have the tenacity and patience that is required, you could eventually be making a great income in this business.

Do You Suffer From the Something-For-Nothing Mindset?

You will know whether you suffer from the something-for-nothing mindset if you do the following things:

Expect overnight success. Nobody gets rich overnight in network marketing, including you. Be realistic in your expectations.

Expect everything to be free. As long as you believe that you should be able to start your own business without spending any money, the longer it will take you to get started.

Treat your business like a hobby. Start from the very beginning with the attitude that you are the CEO of your business. Do not go into it thinking that you will work on your business if and when you have the time.

Don't Wait to Become Great

Don’t wait to become great when you join a network marketing business. Even though you probably know next to nothing about what to do, just jump right in and act as if you do. Soak in all the training and other information offered by your company, and research the internet for all the training available. Decide which marketing methods you want to try, then give it all you’ve got.

Many people wait around before they take action because they feel as if they don’t know enough to even begin. The only way to learn is to just do it. Sure, you will make mistakes; everyone does. Shrug it off. As long as you are taking daily action to build your business, you will learn a lot along the way.

So, don’t wait to become great. Jump right in, take the bull by the horns, and learn as you go. In the meantime, be confident in your abilities.

Three Important Traits of Network Marketers

When you learn and apply the three important traits of network marketers, you will eventually see success. The steps are as follows:

Patience – This is of utmost importance in your business. If you do not have the patience to see it through, you have no chance. All businesses require this trait, and those who do not possess it are dead in the water.

Persistence – Set goals, take daily steps to build your business, and be persistent. Be willing to take the same steps over and over again. For example, post daily in the forums, write and submit articles as often as possible, place classified ads, set up a postcard campaign, etc.

Profit – If you will practice the two traits above, you will gradually begin to see a profit. We all would like to see this word at the top of the list, but it just doesn’t work that way.

The Art of Hanging In There

The art of hanging in there is so important for success in the internet marketing industry. The honest marketers will tell you that if six or seven people sign up with you, you can usually expect only one, maybe two, to stay.

The reasons for this are impatience, wanting something for nothing, frustration, and the list goes on. Most of us have an “employee mindset”, and we expect a paycheck at the end of the week for the work we have completed. You need to know that this business does not work that way.

You must decide now that you will practice the art of hanging in there. If you want to change your future, you must know going in that there is no giving in. No quitting, no whining, no letting frustration set in. Just take one step after another, knowing that with each step you are getting closer to your goal. Within a few years, probably two or more, you should begin to see your efforts pay off. You will see the light at the end of the tunnel and know that the journey was worth it.

Avoid Annoying Marketing Methods

Network marketing companies sometimes train their distributors to use annoying marketing methods. For instance, they teach them to approach people in public, hand them their business card, and proceed to enlighten them all about their products and their compensation plan. If you make a habit of this, people will start to run at the mere sight of you!

Here are some good ideas that draw people to you without you having to say a word:

Email signature. Set this up with a message about your business and/or products. A lot of people will see your email signature because some emails are forwarded numerous times. This is a very non-threatening way to promote your business. The recipient can ignore it altogether, or actually visit your website, email you, or give you a call if they want.

Personal website. Provide information about yourself and your business. Give your website visitors ways to contact you such as an email address or phone number.

Car magnets or decals. A business name, phone number, and website address are in plain view for all to see as you go through your day. Anyone who wants to know more has all the information they need to reach you.

Post cards. Send them to people you know, or to leads (business opportunity seekers). Provide information about your business and a way to reach you. They should be sent on a monthly basis for at least six months to prospects. If the recipient is not interested, they can simply toss the card.

Company apparel. Wear anything with your company logo. Ball caps, visors, sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc. These items sometimes draw interest.

Business cards. You can leave them at restaurants with tips, in envelopes when you pay bills, at the bank, the doctor’s office, etc.

Catalogs. Leave company catalogs in public restrooms, laundry mats, waiting rooms, etc.

Free samples. If you have a consumable product, give out free samples to friends, bank tellers, hair stylists, receptionists, or anyone else that you come into contact with.

Classified ads. Place an ad in your local newspaper, or any newspaper. Place online ads also.

Online forums. Ask questions and offer information. Include your website address in your signature.

These are all great ways to promote your business without annoying anyone. Any of these methods may pique a person’s interest enough to contact you about buying your products or wanting to join your company.

1. Email signature. Costs you nothing. Advertises your business with each email you send.
2. Forums. Try to post on forums daily. Add your website address to your signature line.
3. Blog. Setting up a blog costs you nothing. Make it a business blog and provide good information about your business.
4. Web decal. Put one of these on your vehicle and advertise your business everywhere you go.
5. Post cards. Send them out to advertise your business. Check the search engines for advice on post card campaigns.
6. Article writing. Become an expert author by writing about your business and other topics you know well. Submit to the article directories. You can find these at your favorite search engine.
7. Personal website. You get better qualified leads when people come to you through your website.

Working with Leads

When working with leads, try to accept the fact that not every lead will join your business. In fact, even with industry-specific leads, the timing may not be right for the prospect. Even so, just by providing information about your company and products, you have planted a seed in that person’s head.

If you remain calm, friendly, and helpful, each prospect will remember it. They will remember that you did not sound panicky, fearful, and desperate to make a sale or sign them up. Remember, you do not want to sign up everyone that you speak with anyway. You need to be selective when dealing with leads. You want positive, energetic, and hard-working team members.

Do not discount prospects who are strapped for money or who want something that will allow them to quit their jobs tomorrow. However, use your own best judgment as to which ones to spend the most time recruiting. You will know pretty quickly just who deserves your utmost attention. Using kindness and discernment at the same time should aid you in your recruiting efforts.

Dealing with leads can be frustrating, and you may spend a lot of time with someone who never joins your company. But at the same time, it is a necessary process in order to build a team. You learn a lot along the way, even with those who never join. You learn what to say so that people will respond positively, you file that information away, and you use it again the next time.

The more you do this, the better you become. You become a better communicator, a better recruiter, and a better leader. Keep in mind that treating people the way you want to be treated is always key. No one wants to be pressured, hounded, or spoken to harshly. There are network marketers out there who are plain rude whenever someone decides to take more time to make a decision, or decides not to join them altogether.

This is so wrong and unnecessary. You have not really wasted your time with people who never join. In fact, you have actually honed your recruiting skills. You will become more and more comfortable with the recruiting process with each prospect you deal with.

Don’t let working with leads scare you. They are people just like you, who probably know a lot less about the business than you. They will respect you and maybe even consider you an expert in your field if you just present them with the information. Be kind and considerate, never become defensive and angry, and you will eventually build a solid team.

Working with leads may seem intimidating, but it is crucial to team-building. My company provides candle-specific leads which we can purchase, since candles are our main product. If your company does not provide these and does not have a lead co-op, be sure to investigate thoroughly before purchasing leads from a lead company. Make sure that they are not sold several times.

Your best bet is to create a personal website or blog and let people get to know you. Then, you will generate your own leads. These people will come to you wanting to join you in your business or purchase your products, or both. They will come to know and trust you because of the personal information you have provided on your site.
