Inexpensive Marketing Methods

Have you tried to find ways to market your business that won't break the bank? I have listed just a few inexpensive and free methods here. Give them a try.

1. Email signature. Costs you nothing. Advertises your business with each email you send.
2. Forums. Try to post on forums daily. Add your website address to your signature line.
3. Blog. Setting up a blog costs you nothing. Make it a business blog and provide good information about your business.
4. Web decal. Put one of these on your vehicle and advertise your business everywhere you go.
5. Post cards. Send them out to advertise your business. Check the search engines for advice on post card campaigns.
6. Article writing. Become an expert author by writing about your business and other topics you know well. Submit to the article directories. You can find these at your favorite search engine.
7. Personal website. You get better qualified leads when people come to you through your website.
8. Business cards. Leave them with every tip at restaurants, place on community bulletin boards, send with every bill payment, etc.

As you can see, you do not have to go broke in order to market your business.

Working with Leads

When working with leads, try to accept the fact that not every lead will join your business. In fact, even with industry-specific leads, the timing may not be right for the prospect. Even so, just by providing information about your company and products, you have planted a seed in that person’s head.

If you remain calm, friendly, and helpful, each prospect will remember it. They will remember that you did not sound panicky, fearful, and desperate to make a sale or sign them up. Remember, you do not want to sign up everyone that you speak with anyway. You need to be selective when dealing with leads. You want positive, energetic, and hard-working team members.

Do not discount prospects who are strapped for money or who want something that will allow them to quit their jobs tomorrow. However, use your own best judgment as to which ones to spend the most time recruiting. You will know pretty quickly just who deserves your utmost attention. Using kindness and discernment at the same time should aid you in your recruiting efforts.

Dealing with leads can be frustrating, and you may spend a lot of time with someone who never joins your company. But at the same time, it is a necessary process in order to build a team. You learn a lot along the way, even with those who never join. You learn what to say so that people will respond positively, you file that information away, and you use it again the next time.

The more you do this, the better you become. You become a better communicator, a better recruiter, and a better leader. Keep in mind that treating people the way you want to be treated is always key. No one wants to be pressured, hounded, or spoken to harshly. There are network marketers out there who are plain rude whenever someone decides to take more time to make a decision, or decides not to join them altogether.

This is so wrong and unnecessary. You have not really wasted your time with people who never join. In fact, you have actually honed your recruiting skills. You will become more and more comfortable with the recruiting process with each prospect you deal with.

Don’t let working with leads scare you. They are people just like you, who probably know a lot less about the business than you. They will respect you and maybe even consider you an expert in your field if you just present them with the information. Be kind and considerate, never become defensive and angry, and you will eventually build a solid team.

Working with leads may seem intimidating, but it is crucial to team-building. My company provides candle-specific leads which we can purchase, since candles are our main product. If your company does not provide these and does not have a lead co-op, be sure to investigate thoroughly before purchasing leads from a lead company. Make sure that they are not sold several times.

Your best bet is to create a personal website or blog and let people get to know you. Then, you will generate your own leads. These people will come to you wanting to join you in your business or purchase your products, or both. They will come to know and trust you because of the personal information you have provided on your site.

The Tortoise Wins

When it comes to MLM, the tortoise wins every time. For those who enter the world of MLM and expect things to happen at break-neck speed, they WILL be disappointed. When you make the decision to improve your life and your financial situation in this business, it helps to know right from the start that this is a process. Success will not come overnight.

Success WILL come though, eventually. It is so much easier for those who understand the process in the very beginning. Those who come in with unrealistic expectations become frustrated, and then they quit. They are disillusioned because things are not as they had hoped.

Don't let this happen to you. Don't listen to all the hype out there telling you that you will get rich quick. Understand that MLM can help you break away from the daily grind of a 9 to 5 job, but you will have to work to achieve it. You will have to make a plan of action, and take those action steps daily and consistently.

Do you wonder what I mean by "action steps"? There are so many, but you will choose which ones work for you. You do not have to take them all. Examples are posting ads, buying leads, writing articles, setting up home parties, posting in forums, setting up an email signature, creating a personal website or blog, mailing postcards, handing out business cards, placing a web decal on your vehicle, posting flyers, etc. The list goes on and on. You will learn about them all once you get started in your business. Then, you will decide which ones work for you.

The beauty of MLM is that YOU decide how to run your business and how many hours per week you will work. No one will make those decisions for you. You truly are the master of your own destiny here. Sound good? Of course it does. Most of us don't really like being told what to do, what time to come to work and leave, and when to take vacation. MLM can take you away from all that, but it probably won't happen quickly.

If you are already a stay-at-home mom or someone else who just needs some extra income in short order, you should be able to accomplish that pretty quickly. Once you receive your start-up kit you can begin selling right away. Just make sure that your company offers a good product for you to sell. Even though you will not make a lot of money at first, you may be able to put enough money in your pocket to make a car payment or maybe even pay off a credit card.

Try to keep in mind that the tortoise wins, and that success in this business takes time. When you have that mindset, you will be less likely to become discouraged and give up on your dream. Plan your daily actions, DO them, give it time, be patient and persistent, and work hard. Follow the lead of those in your company who have achieved what you want. You will then become someone that others follow because you never gave up.
